Chevalier Montrachet, Domaine Marc Morey 2010

Tasting Notes

Interestingly, this is actually riper than the Bâtard, indeed even to the point where there is a very discreet hint of the exotic to the otherwise fresh, cool and admirably pure floral and white fleshed fruit aromas. The palate impression though is entirely classic with restrained and intensely mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess excellent volume and plenty of energy before really fanning out on the firm, balanced and ever-so-slightly sweet finish. Curiously, it's almost as though the Bâtard and the Chevalier switched places in 2010 as this is not only riper but while still a wine of finesse, the Bâtard is actually just a bit finer if less mineral-inflected.
