Tasting Notes

The 2008 Barolo Rupestris shows slightly more heft and concentration to the appearance with dark garnet tones and fresher fruit aromas. Dark cherry, pressed blackberry and plum are backed by a generous array of balsam aromas that include eucalyptus, dried mint, hummus, tar and cola. This wine was released in February of this year and only 9,000 bottles were made. It's absolutely exceptional. The 2009 vintage will be bottled in September and released in February or March 2014. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.
