Mazoyeres Chambertin, Domaine Perrot-Minot 2011

Tasting Notes

The unusually open nose expresses itself with notes of oak, earth and quite deeply pitched scents of plum, cassis, wild berries, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage. There is plenty of muscle to the supple, round and admirably pure large-bodied flavors that possess very firm but relatively fine-grained tannins on the impressively persistent and powerful finish. This is a notably ripe wine in the context of the vintage and one that should also amply reward mid to longer-term cellaring. Drink 2023+

Vinified with 50% whole clusters. The unusually expressive nose expresses itself with notes of earthy and quite deeply pitched scents of plum, cassis, wild berries, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage. There is plenty of muscle to the supple, round and admirably pure large-bodied flavors that possess very firm but relatively fine-grained tannins on the impressively persistent and powerful finish. This doesn't quite have the present depth of the Charmes but it's just as long and the underlying material appears to be just as good and thus this should be outstanding in time.
