Griotte Chambertin, Domaine Claude Dugat 2011

Tasting Notes

A discreet application of wood sets off the pure, refined and quite cool mix of various red berries and sour cherry aromas. There is a silky and equally pure mouth feel to the tension-filled, detailed and tautly muscular medium-bodied flavors that display excellent precision on the dry, clean and impressively persistent finish that also exhibits a hint of salinity.

Another strong performance from Dugat is the 2011 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru, a wine that transcends the vintage, offering up aromas of cherries, plums, spices and rose petals, without any of the somewhat herbaceous characteristics that sometimes mark out 2011s. Full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, it's sensual and layered, with a rich core of fruit, melting tannins and a saline finish. This vintage offers such immediate pleasure that it makes a good choice for drinking over the next decade.
