Tasting Notes

This is quite a sappy pinot that has beautifully articulated fragrances, herbs, red fruits and stony notes. There are also fresh boysenberries and bright, fine, chalky nuances here – bright and brimming with red cherries and raspberries. The palate has impressive structure and depth, while savory stony flavors and nutty tannins are wrapped in focused red cherry fruits, holding bright, long and energetic. Drink in 2016

Medium-deep ruby-purple in color, the 2013 Calvert Pinot Noir has a nose of dusty earth, warm red currants and cassis accented by pencil lead and hints of baking spices. Medium bodied and tightly-knit on the palate, it gives a great concentration of red and black fruit flavors, chewy tannins and earthy layers that emerge in the long finish.

Made with 25% whole clusters, the 2016 Calvert Pinot Noir is floral and herbal up front, with distinct rose petal and thyme aromas. Red berries take charge on the palate, although there's a resinous herbal note from start to finish. This medium-bodied wine is supple enough to be approachable now, but it has the concentration to age through 2025. 2018 - 2025
