There is enough wood to notice though it doesn't fight with the mostly red berry fruit, spice and pungent earth aromas. There is ample size, weight, power, muscle and concentration to the big-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that does a fine job of buffering the very firm but not hard tannic spine on the hugely long finish. Moreover, there is excellent depth and overall, this is a big but not massive example that displays excellent balance and harmony.
