Tasted blind. Relatively pale, dull garnet. Light nose with a hint of coconut oak. Cough-pastille note on the nose. Pretty savage texture and flavours that seem a bit artificial. 13%

Medium red. Wild, distinctly animal aromas of plum, coffee and roasted meat. Plush and sweet, with musky plum, toffee and meat flavors and an essentially soft texture. Finishes with very good length and plenty of ripe tannins. Sauvage but reasonably rich.

This light-styled 2005 suggests Petit Village needs a wake-up call. Moderately deep plum, cherry, coffee, and herb characteristics make an appearance in this superficial, but stylish, medium-bodied, lightly tannic Pomerol. Drink it during its first 10-12 years of life.
