This is spicier than and not quite as cool and fresh as the Chambertin though that is natural as the terroir of Chambertin is much colder than that of Romanée St. Vivant. There is good depth to the plum, violet and cassis suffused nose that is trimmed in discreet wood before introducing mouth coating and velvety flavors that are supported by refined tannins and excellent balance and serious persistence. This appears to be at the head of the class of the Latour 2010s.
