Tasting Notes

This is a 100% Merlot cuvee fashioned by Christian Moueix from an 8-acre vineyard he culled out from his flagship property, the vineyard once known as Certan-Giraud. His older vine cuvee from this property is called Hosanna. Sensual and disarmingly charming, the dark ruby/plum-colored 2003 possesses superb fruit in the nose along with a big, sweet candied black cherry attack revealing notions of smoke, licorice, and herbs. This luscious, medium-bodied Certan-Marzelle provides a totally hedonistic turn-on. It should be drunk over the next 7-8 years.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (164), April 2009

Medium-deep garnet colour in the glass. The nose is aromatic with ripe black cherries, damsons, brown sugar and nutmeg. The palate is ripe, round, smooth and soft with no hard edges, a beautifully silky texture wraps the ripe forest fruit and sweet spice flavours. The finish melds black cherry, caramel and a light undergrowth character into layers of complexity. This wine is at its peak right now, a perfectly mature Pomerol at an excellent price.
