The 2014 Chateau Picque Caillou has a fragrant and well-defined, quite complex bouquet with melted tar and graphite infusing the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity and great harmony. This punches above my expectations, showing much more refinement than previous vintages. This is one to watch—a pretty little thing. Drink date 2018 - 2030
This has quite a lot of chocolate and caramel aromas to it, but it tastes surprisingly fresh all things considered. The finish is just a little tart and angular. Give it a year or two to soften.
