Tasting Notes

The 2011 Batard-Montracht is deep, powerful and earthy. Even within the context of Batard, this is a full-bodied, massive, powerful wine. There is plenty of personality, the question is really whether the Batard will find a sense of balance and finesse over time, or if it is always going to be a brute.

An introverted yet quite fresh nose of white flowers, apple, pear and soft spice hints. There is excellent concentration to the extract-rich flavors that culminate in an odd finish of menthol and something that is hard to describe but completely atypical. This may or may not correct itself and while the underlying material appears to be excellent, this is quite difficult to judge.
