Tasting Notes

The wine has an orange color tending somewhat towards brown and the texture is quite oily. The nose shows somewhat typical flavors of the vintage with oranges, candied fruits, marzipan and exotic fruits. It is on the palate that the wine really comes into its own, which proves most refined and astonishingly fresh. This is underlined by an attractive slightly herbal streak that just adds length and keeps the sense of freshness through the finish. It is a very stylish and elegant Auslese and so easy to drink. Deep tawny copper (about the same colour as 1949 served alongside!). Extraordinary mint toffee nose – very full and big. Very slightly astringent. A real mouthful. Would be lovely to drink now.
