Chassagne Montrachet Caillerets, Domaine Fontaine Gagnard 2012

Tasting Notes

This is sufficiently ripe that it flirts with exoticism yet the mélange of dried yellow orchard fruit, petrol and spice scents remain fresh and bright. There is excellent concentration and plenty of minerality that adds lift to the intense big-bodied flavors as well as the mouth coating, saline and medium dry finish. While ripe, there is good acid support that keeps everything in good balance and this should drink well young but reward 4 to 6 years of cellar time too.

Playful matchstick aromas and lovely succulent green fruit too. Brilliant concentration and layering. Lovely – really encapsulates the versatility and expressiveness of Chardonnay. Richard Hemming MW
