Tasting Notes

Exotic aromas of sliced mangoes and green papaya with undertones of pebbles and lemon rind. Full-bodied and dense — showing plenty of phenolic tension — yet this remains vivid and bright. Dried fruits such as apricots and lemons come to the surface on the palate. Dense and complex wine. Drink or hold for many years ahead.

Pale greenish straw. Very exuberant nose. And pretty tight and grapefruity dry finish. Tight. Chalky finish. Tight and racy and ambitious. 12.9%

The 2015 Cos D'Estournel Blanc is a Sauvignon Blanc dominated white that offers an exotic, medium-bodied, vibrant style in addition to outstanding notes of citrus blossom, tangerine, and lime peel. I like it today, but it should keep for at least a decade. 2018 - 2028

Concentration and depth on the nose the palate has ripe pineapple and peach. There is mid crispness citrus, flint light and fresh towards the back with a lime and lemon rind freshness on the finish. 2018-26

It’s a rare vintage when Cos’ white wine is better than its red, but that’s the case here. This
was picked late, but comes from a cool site. Saline, zesty and delicately oaked, with a whiff of
sea breeze and a waxy undertone. Complex, satisfying stuff. Drink: 2017-22

They started picking on 14 September because the Sauvignon needed this extra time to fully ripen. It is vinified in oak,
but only a touch of new is needed to season this wine. Made from two picks to layer flavour there is not too much exoticism
(which I have found a little too sickly in the past) thank goodness. There is structure here, but it is not too heady or
tropical. I love the acidity and the palate is not too flamboyant. A success.

The 2015 Cos d'Estournel Blanc is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon, picked between 14 and 29 September at a low 29 hl/ha. It has a charming bouquet with lime flower, apricot blossom and just a touch of blood orange. There is a sprightliness to this wine. The palate is crisp and fresh with a fine bead of acidity, plenty of tension here and perhaps more precision than previous vintages that I have tasted since its debut. I like the flow of energy here. This is an excellent Cos d'Estournel Blanc that should age with style and panache. Drink 2019-2035

A dense and pretty white with sliced apple, pear and pineapple. Full body and very fresh. Tangy and bright. Lovely energy to this.
