When to drink: 2017 to 2021
Warm but very challenging vintage: a few frosts in spring, poor flowering and extremely dry summer, then unseasonal severe winds wreaked havoc. Very low yield. Hand-picked in April at a Brix of 21-23 and hand-sorted with extreme precision, whole-bunch pressed, cold-settled for 48 hours with bentonite. Fermented in a stainless-steel tank for three weeks. 313 dozen bottles produced. RS 2.9 g/l, TA 6.8 g/l. Firm and dry on the nose. Quite solid and dense (nothing ethereal here). More of a food wine than an aperitif. Still lots to chew on. Perhaps it is just too young? Jancis Robinson
