Tasting Notes

Lots of fresh dried strawberries with lemon rind character and hints of limestone. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a clean finish. There’s a more linear and angular style to this. Drink in 2017.

This is lushly textured, featuring cherry, plum and spice flavors, with hints of tar and mineral. Shows a coarse grain to the tannins, but will need time to soften. Finishes long and savory. Best from 2019 through 2032.

Bruce Sanderson, WineSpectator.com, December 2015

With fruit from Castiglione Falletto, the 2011 Barolo Parussi is an epic wine with thick layers of dark fruit, spice and pressed rose. This expression is absolutely irresistible in terms of its generosity, overall intensity and silky smoothness. It presents a more immediate style with soft lines and a generous, fruity texture. Franco and Roberto Massolino have produced an exceptional portfolio of new releases. This estate demonstrates a key understanding of the warm 2011 vintage and has used its best assets (the thick soils of Serralunga d'Alba and Castiglione Falletto and other factors) to protect the integrity of its fruit. They have succeeded in making some of the most memorable Barolo wines on the market today.

This classic Barolo opens with aromas of ripe dark berry, forest floor and a balsamic note. On the palate, clove, pepper and licorice back up a core of crushed black cherry and raspberry. It's young but already remarkably well balanced, with tightly knit, refined tannins and nervous acidity. Drink 2019–2029.
