Tasting Notes

A blend of 61% merlot, 20% cabernet sauvignon and 19% cabernet franc, this has an impressive floral, violet-like nose, plenty of saturated mulberry and blueberry fruits, some wet concrete and stony notes, as well as chocolate and a mellow cedary oak layer. The palate has fine, smooth and glossy tannins, builds well and has an expansive feel, still rising through the finish for now, concentrated wine, saturated with dark fruit flavors and a long, classy finish. Give this until 2020.

The 2014 Sophia Proprietary Red is a blend of 61% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with an expressive cassis, pencil shavings and blackberry-laced nose with some cloves and chocolate box nuances. The medium to full-bodied palate offers a nice backbone of grainy tannins and refreshing acidity supporting the generous fruit, finishing long with some lively herbal notes.
