Rivesaltes, Domaine La Sobilane 1947

Tasting Notes

The 1947 Rivesaltes has a slightly deeper, burnished color than the 1948. It has a very complex bouquet with dried honey, quince and a light seaweed/peaty aroma that becomes more floral as it opens in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a viscous opening: marmalade, brown spices, a touch of toffee and a very precise and focused finish with less sucrosity than the 1949. This is an outstanding Rivesaltes, one of the best that I have tasted. Drink 2017-2040.

Pale tawny. Very reddish bright. A little bit cheesy. Then prunes and a bit of alcohol. Quite interesting! Layered. Fresh. Chewy end.
Drink 2015-2019
