Nuits Saint Georges Les Saint Georges, Domaine Hubert Lignier 2014

The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges Cuvée Sire de Vergy Hospice de Nuits, purchased from the Hospices de Nuits, has an extravagant and powerful bouquet with lush red berry fruit, raisin and fresh fig, all very well defined. This is exotic for the vintage. The palate is ripe and opulent with a slightly viscous texture and nicely judged acidity, but for me just a little over the top on the finish compared to the more refined Les Didiers.
