Tasting Notes

Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, the 2014 Burn Cottage Moonlight Race gives a great intensity of ripe red cherry, cranberry and black raspberry aromas with hints of violets, vanilla, anise and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with expressive red berry and baking spice flavors, supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

A new label for Burn Cottage, from three vineyards: the estate vineyard in the Cromwell Baisn, Nortburn vineyard on the other side of Lake Dunstan and Cox vineyard in the Gibbston region. Reasonably soft, elegant Pinot Noir with plum, floral, violet, wood smoke, gentle anise spice and oak flavours. Smooth textured wine with a gentle tannic grip on the finish. Drink 2015-2022

Grunty burgundian colour, somehow (crimson with a bit of grey). Herbal and spearmint on the nose. Sweet start and nicely managed tannins. Good edge and savour. Interesting.
