Always a fine Barsac, this property also produces miniscule quantities of a cuvée called "L'Extravagant" in some vintages.

Pale lemon colored, the 2016 Doisy Daëne is a little closed, opening out to reveal lime blossoms, Mandarin peel, candied lemon peel and peach blossoms scents with hints of spice cake and crème brûlée. The palate offers an incredible array of citrus and spice layers with fantastic freshness and length. 2021-2050.
There’s a wealth of rich, ripe apricots and sweetly fragrant peaches here, as well as a gently tropical edge. The palate is fleshy and richly sweet and offers smooth orange-marmalade flavors. Striking elegance and length here. A blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc. Drink or hold.
I love the ginger-spiced quality that is so evident in the sweet wines this year, a gorgeous addition that deepens the experience. This feels like a drop of luxury, and on a second tasting I covet the seams of minerality that are clearly evident. A rich style.
Serious stuff. Very precise. Racy edge that reminds me of something medical – a refreshing pine disinfectant? Lots of energy. Valérie Lavigne has taking an interest in this for some time. A worthy memento of the late Denis Dubordieu.
Drink 2024-2037
The nose has a rich mix of fruits the palate candied peel but there is freshness in the middle lighter bright. It fills out on the back palate peach and apricot the finish lighter with a salty spiciness. 2024-36
In a vintage that has generally produced light, easy-drinking sweet wines, this is one of the exceptions: rich, dense and exotic with toast, honey and tropical fruit flavours supported by acidity. A fitting tribute to the late Denis Dubourdieu. 2020-30
The 2016 Doisy Daene has a generous bouquet with lovely scents of yellow flower and peach infusing the honeyed aromas. The palate is fresh on the entry with tangy orange peel and peachy notes, very harmonious and viscous in texture, leading to a detailed and persistent finish that is one of the most delicious I can remember from this Barsac estate. This wine will always be tinged with sadness, since it coincides with the passing of Denis Dubourdieu. But his legacy will live on in his wines, including this one, which is magnificent.
Drink Date 2021 - 2060
This is very serious with lots of spicy, botrytis character and a deep and dense palate. Full-bodied, very sweet and long on the finish.
