Tasting Notes

**Note: from a .055 ha parcel of 90 year old vines planted at a density of 14,000 vines/ha - vinified with 100% of the stems**
This is an introverted wine at present with only the most reluctant of aromas emanating to reveal an equally floral nose of dried rose petal, violets and acacia plus spice, smoke, leather and earthy but cool and reserved red berry fruits that slide seamlessly into marvelously concentrated, textured and chewy big-boned flavors that possess a relatively accessible mid-palate but tighten up quickly on the monumentally long finish. This is much more structured than it seems as the extract almost completely buffers the very firm tannic spine. And like the Mazis, this is built for the very long haul and will require at least 15 years to be at its best but 20 to 25 is not out of the question if stored in a very cool cellar.
