Just bottled three weeks ago, the 2015 Pic Saint Loup La Closerie Du Pic is certainly one of the gems in this terrific vintage. Its vibrant purple color is followed by sensational notes of black raspberries, toasted spice, cassis and even a hint of bacon fat. With medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless texture, integrated acidity and a blockbuster finish, drink this straight up fabulous Pic Saint Loup anytime over the coming 7-8 years. Hats off to the team at Puech-Haut, and consultant Philippe Cambie, for this sensational wine!
Easy to mistake for a Northern Rhône, the 2015 Closerie du Pic is unadulterated enjoyment in a bottle. The nose offers copious ripe bramble fruits, plums, coffee and an undercurrent of black pepper. The palate is plush and ripe without any hint of being overworked. Black olive, plum fruits and spice are the key characteristics of this juicy, approachable Pic St Loup. Impossible not to have a second glass.
