Bright lemon in colour with a fresh, lightly smoky and citrus driven nose. The palate is bright, floral and lifted with citrus and petrichor offering a cool, mineral, yet supple palate. There is light, creamy richness that softens the palate, adding body and length as well as a hint of spiciness. You can drink this now while the brightness offers crystalline purity, or wait a year or two as it gains in mellow creaminess. Delicious, as always.

Farr Vintners, Farr Tasting, March 2018

A significant step up on the entry level Village Chardonnay with greater concentration and complexity. Quite Mâcon-like this year in a fruit-focused style with melon and peach the most obvious flavours, although they are supported by subtle nut and bran characters. Good now but will reward cellaring.

Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2017

More dust and gravel with lifted powdery grey slate minerality. Notes of bruised lemon, cassis leaf, lemon cordial and potent intensity. The palate is sleek and finely polished, elegant and positively light on its feet. Middling weight, finely textured, this is open enough to to drink now.

Pale straw. Slightly teenage reticence on the nose. Flinty character on the nose and some breadth on the palate. Then it tightens up – almost dries – at the end.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, October 2018

Still a Kiwi classic, Kumeu River's 2016 Estate Chardonnay features toasted grain aromas, ripe peach and nectarine flavors and a long, citrus-inflected finish. It's medium-bodied, with a plump, silky texture and up to a decade of aging potential. 2018 - 2025

An array of local sites blended together, this gives a heart and soul feel for the vintage at Kumeu. Plenty of richness and ripeness. Quite peachy and almost heads into mango tropical territory. A fleshy and approachable palate. Drink now. Screw cap.

Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com, November 2017

Quite a rich and creamy wine for this producer, but with the usual polished texture and long finish. A little bit closed on the nose right now, although some gardenia and peach notes are showing. But this is just a phase it's going through. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
