Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Alain Burguet 2014
The exuberantly spicy nose blends notes of red berries with those of rose petal, earth and sandalwood. The muscular, sleek and almost painfully intense big-bodied flavors exude a fine bead of minerality onto the delicious, complex and seriously persistent finale that flirts with rusticity but manages to avoid it. To be sure this is firmly structured but it appears to be more of a mid-term cellar candidate than one that will require longer-term bottle aging.
