With 70g/l residual sugar and a staggering pH of 2.8, this curiosity from Churton is absolutely delicious, finding a line between the wines of the Loire and Jurancon. The nose is wild and expressive, with mandarin, wet wool, orange curd and candied rind. The palate continues, but with added notes of straw and earthy honey. The acidity cuts through any sweetness and there is some grip to this wine too. It is textural very complex, allowing for a myriad of orange, quince, lemon and cream notes to shine through. The low pH brings great focus to the finish, which feels spicy and only lightly sweet. Long and fine, and absolutely delicious.
