Barbaresco Riserva Curra, Bruno Rocca 2012

Tasting Notes

The 2012 Barbaresco Riserva CurrĂ  represents the very first edition of this new wine. The Riserva should be hitting the market now. This vintage reminds me of 2015, thanks to the dark exuberance of the fruit and the soft textural richness of the mouthfeel. Both 2012 and 2015 are warm vintages in the Barbaresco region. But this wine is further along its evolutionary track, and you can recognize those budding aromas of licorice, tar and campfire ash as a result. The elegant finish offers smoky flavors and silky, integrated tannins. Bruno Rocca and his family are focused on Nebbiolo. Some 70% of their production is based on the mighty Piedmont grape.
