There is an interesting, if atypical, note that resembles talcum powder present on the otherwise pretty nose of pear liqueur and mineral reduction aromas. There is fine richness to the full-bodied, powerful and concentrated flavors that display evident muscularity on the solidly complex and persistent finale. This is very Butteaux in basic character that should again age reasonably well but be approachable young too. Drink: 2019+
The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux has a well-defined bouquet with touches of mint and bay leaf. I like the energy here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, a twist of bitter lemon, edgy and saline with a taut, linear finish. “Proper Chablis” (as they say). Drink Date 2016 - 2026
