An understated application of wood frames the green fruit and essence of pear scents that evidence subtle spice, floral and citrus nuances. There is terrific intensity to the highly complex medium-bodied flavors that are also blessed with a highly attractive mouth feel before concluding in a saliva-inducing finish that delivers first-rate persistence. Lovely stuff that should repay up to a decade of keeping.
Tasted blind, the 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts is an unusually lithe, acid-driven wine for the vintage, wafting from the glass with a bright bouquet of white flowers, crisp green apple and subtle iodine. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and tangy, with lots of cut and juicy energy, albeit comparatively little flesh on its structural bones. 2020 - 2035
