Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Alain Burguet 2015
Burguet's 2015 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru offers striking depth and intensity. There is plenty of Bèze darkness and volume. Succulent dark stone fruit, licorice, menthol, sage and violet notes abound. The 2015 is aging in 2/3rds new oak, but the barrel sample I tasted (from a new barrel) suggests the 2015 has more than enough sheer stuffing to handle the cooperage. As always, the Burguet Bèze offers notable fruit density and richness, both qualities this site produces in ample quantity on its own.
