Pommard Croix Noires, Domaine de Courcel 2008

As one would reasonably expect, this offers a small step up in both aromatic elegance and complexity with a pure red pinot fruit, plum, earth and hints of underbrush suffused nose that complements well the full-bodied, dense and mouth coating flavors that are supported by very firm but buried tannins and excellent length. This is very Pommard but avoids any sense of overt rusticity. Ample patience required.
