A reserved nose offers up notes of cassis, spice and earth along with enough wood to notice. There is good muscle and punch to the middle weight flavors that are shaped by dusty and slightly chewy tannins on the mildly woody finish where a hint of bitter cherry arises. This is awkward today.
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Lavrottes, located just under Bonnes-Mares, had a very fruit-driven bouquet with blueberry, cassis and blackberry fruit, the 30% whole bunch nicely integrated and yet still perhaps the most precocious of Felettig's 2015s. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, commendable structure and depth. There is a soupçon of opulence here on the rounded, sweet date-tinged finish. Whilst not the pick of Chambolles from the domaine, it is a very well-made wine.
