**Note: from Le Charlemagne in Aloxe**
Mildly toasty wood sets off aromas of green apple, pear and white peach along with mineral reduction hints. Once again there is excellent richness to the full-bodied and concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that possess almost painful intensity while delivering outstanding finishing persistence. This is not a classic rendition of the appellation but it is impressive and one that is built-to-age.
As is always the case with Corton, the power here comes in non-fruit aromas. Savoury, fresh nuts and an oily, brooding, mineral weight on the nose. The palate follows, with thick, rich concentration and great power of savoury flavour. This is bold, texturally creamy and silky with great drive of minerality bringing the freshness to temper the full-bodied and broad palate. The finish is very long, and with two hours of decanting, only improves, with a smoky, struck match character and an almost salty lemon curd coaxed from the glass. Great potential.
