Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint Jacques, Domaine Esmonin 2015

Tasting Notes

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, which includes 60% whole bunch fruit and the same percentage of new wood, has a very mineral-driven, harmonious, sensual bouquet that is one of the best that I have tasted from the domaine. There is energy being emitted from the glass here even before you dig your nose in! The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. It comes replete with vibrant red fruit infused with orange rind, white pepper, almost sorbet-like towards the composed and very tensile finish that has impressive depth and a very long aftertaste. You can feel the tongue tingling long after this has departed, just a touch of orange zest lingering a minute later. This is an outstanding Clos Saint-Jacques from Sylvie Esmonin.
