The 2017 Mâcon-Vergisson La Roche wafts from the glass with notes of preserved citrus, nutmeg and yellow orchard fruit. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and ample, with plenty of volume and dimension on the attack, beautifully balanced by tangy, incisive acids that lend lift to the chalky finish. This is well worth seeking out and would make a terrific daily drinker. 8,000 bottles were produced. Drink Date 2018 - 2027
Once again there is just enough wood influence to merit mentioning surrounding the pretty nose combining mildly exotic notes of white orchard fruit, orange peel and lychee nut. I like both the volume and mid-palate density of the middle weight flavors that possess a seductively creamy mouth feel that carries over to the slightly more complex and persistent finish. This quality effort could easily be enjoyed young or held for a few years first.
Aromatic fragrant the nose has flinty freshness the start of the palate lean and bright. Tropical fruit gives a richer feel in the middle sweet at the back with racy mineral freshness on the finish. 2018-23
This plot is located at the top of the Roche de Vergisson surrounded by the vineyards of Pouilly Fuissé. The wine was fermented and matured entirely in oak barrels of which 20% were new. This is creamy, ripe and generous on the nose with pears and white peach. The palate is rich, buttery and round, with a lick of spice coating the juicy fruit core. the acidity cuts through the creaminess of fruit, lifting the finish into ripe citrus and creating a moreish, savoury spiciness.
