Tasting Notes

Red licorice and clove add aromatic details to the polished cherry and raspberry flavors, with cigar box, rosemary and fresh loamy earth notes. Plenty of precision and elegance here, with a long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2028.

MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator Insider, July 2018

The Cornish Point is considered to be the more hedonistic counterpoint to Calvert's structure in most years, yet in 2017 this wine has a more brooding quality, with black cherry, star anise and hints of savoury nutmeg and black pepper on the nuanced nose. The palate is still compact, with coiled black fruits at the centre. As the wine opens in the glass, the velveteen tannins reveal notes of violet, black pepper, black cherry and blossom. The spiciness of this wine adds great intrigue, building to a long finish that is both savoury and ripe in equal measure.

Farr Vintners, Farr Tasting, September 2018

Clearly a very successful vintage for Felton Road. Supple, elegant pinot noir with a sumptuous texture and floral, plum, dark cherry and oriental spice flavours. The wine has an extraordinarily lengthy finish – a sign of a real power. Accessible and appealing wine.

-, Gourmet Traveller wine, January 2019

A richly fruited style with black-cherry and berry aromas and flavors, cast in a gently muscular bed of grainy tannins that delivers a smooth, plush and luxuriant mouthfeel. Dark-plum finish. Needs time. Drink in 2021.
