Puligny Montrachet Champ Canet, Jacques Carillon 2012

Tasting Notes

**Note: 40+ year old vines; aged in 20% new wood**
An appealingly layered and slightly smoky nose features notes of citrus, pear, apple and acacia blossom. As is typically the case with this wine there is both excellent volume and fine mid-palate density as the abundant dry extract that coats the palate and buffers the moderately firm acid spine on the delicious and persistent finish where a touch of pain grillé appears. I should note that this is not super complex at the moment but the underlying material is present such that I believe more will develop with bottle age.
