Tasting Notes

Very ripe yellow-fruit character and considerable succulence without any hints of heaviness. A very long and stony finish of serious complexity that shows wonderful freshness. A great food wine, especially with spicy East Asian dishes. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, May 2018

Just a touch of residual sugar here, 3g/l, which is imperceptable as sweetness but adds a little body to the palate. The nose si wonderfully floral with apple blossom and lemon zest to the fore. The palate is chalky and vibrant, with crisp acidity and waves of apple and lemon fruits coming through. There is a touch of phenolic grip that adds to the intrigue. Harmonious and fine, this is a pristine example of Alsatian riesling.

Farr Vintners, Farr Tasting, June 2018

The nose is still reduced and only gives its smoky, flinty aroma. The palate, likewise, is still tightly closed and full of reductive smokiness. Underneath the reduction, concentrated citrus freshness becomes apparent. Great concentration and zestiness recall the freshness of tart lime and the aromatic vigor of tangerine. Wait for this, it will be phenomenal with bottle age. Drink 2022–2035.

The intensely yellow colored 2016 Turckheim Riesling Heimbourg is from oligocene limestone soils in the hillside next to the winery- The wine opens with a clear, precise, piquant and herbal bouquet of crushed stones. On the palate, this is a very elegant, well-balanced, complex and crystalline Riesling with a long and stimulatingly salty finish with very fine tannins. The fruit is precise, ripe and fresh, giving a lush and harmonious texture. Tasted at the Domaine in June 2018. 2020 - 2036
