Rivesaltes, Domaine La Sobilane 1946

Tasting Notes

The 1946 Rivesaltes does not quite deliver the same complexity as the 1949 on the nose: Manuka honey, brown spices, peat and orange zest. Unlike the 1949 aeration really benefits this Rivesaltes as it manifests greater harmony and precision. The palate is well balanced with marmalade, quince, dried honey and a liberal pinch of white pepper. This is very pure and caressing in the mouth, a little more saline than the 1949 with a persistent finish that lingers in the mouth. Wonderful. Tasted with Philippe Gayral. 2018 - 2035

Earthy notes on the nose that have a sense of organic decay about them – humus, compost. Tar and liquorice on the finish.
