Rivesaltes, Domaine de Sobilane 1962
The 1962 Rivesaltes has a potent, slightly oxidative bouquet not unlike a rancio, with scents of crème brûlée, toffee, walnut and smoke. With aeration there is a hint of furniture polish. The palate is medium-bodied with Clementine, brown spices, marjoram and walnut notes. This feels very harmonious with a nuanced, almost understated and very elegant finish. Excellent. Tasted with Philippe Gayral. 2018 - 2030

Burnt sugar and shoe polish on the nose. Still vigorous on the palate, with fig and chocolate and hazelnut aromas on the finish. Long raisined finish with extraordinary persistence.
