Nuits aux Argillas, Philippe Pacalet 2014
Here the intensely floral nose consists primarily of the cool essence of red pinot fruit that is trimmed in earth, spice and soft wood whispers. There is excellent volume, intensity and punch to the mineral-driven and beautifully well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a moderately austere finale where a subtle hint of bitter cherry arises. This too is going to require at least a few years of bottle age to flesh out and unwind.
