Creamy richness the nose has apricot and peach the palate pineapple but under the fleshy fruit there is balancing acid freshness layers of lime and lemon. It is quite tight in the middle taut with floral fragrances showing at the back. 2019-26
The riper nature of the Coddington vineyard has lent richness to this wine that counters the cooler nature of the vintage. Juicy buttered peaches and notes of toast leap out of the glass on this wine. The palate is ripe and round, with orchard fruits giving real density to the palate. The toastiness of oak is subtle and integrated, lifted by bright acidity, and softened by the hints of cream and generous texture. Long and stone-fruited on the finish, this is ripe and forward but still cut by harmonising acidity.
Creamy melon and lemon butter exoticism and youthful exuberance. Hint of yellow peach, white pepper and green apple pastille. Full, bold and intense concentration, lovely bright zippy acids, mouth coating lime cordial and sweet lemon confit. Just a baby but really delicious.
Water white. Very intense nose. A really aromatic wine – almost Riesling GG-like! And the fruit is much more concentrated than the Estate 2017 so it seems more forward. A spicy, gingery element to this. Very long and rich on the end.
Drink 2018-2030
Kumeu River's 2017 Coddington Chardonnay was barrel-fermented and aged in 25% new oak. Marginally tighter and more structured than the estate bottling, it offers hints of struck flint on the nose, followed by notes of wet stone, nectarine and pineapple. Medium to full-bodied, it's loud, lush and long, with hints of pencil shavings on the finish. Drink Date: 2019 - 2030.
Complex yet fresh nose with plenty of bright white-peach and gently flinty wet-stone aromas. The palate is beautifully cut. Fresh, pristine white peaches are laced with spicy and gently creamy, bready flavors. Toasted hazelnut-praline finish. Drink now. Screw cap.
Very cool and delicate. Yet, in spite of the peach and honeysuckle aromas already showing, this is still quite tight. Precisely delineated, medium to full palate with a lot of minerality, the finish very long and precise. Better from 2019 or 2020. Screw cap.
