Rivesaltes, Domaine La Sobilane 1960
The 1960 Rivesaltes does not possess the same fruit intensity as the 1961 or 1962: wood varnish, hazelnut and smoke, but compared to others, a little skeletal and mean. The palate has a spirituous entry, hints of rosewater and Manuka honey with slightly lower acidity than other vintages that I have tasted. I like the length here but it just fades a little in the final third. Tasted with Philippe Gayral. 2018 - 2024

Varnish and toffee and caramel. Incredibly persistent. Milky coffee, long dried-fig character.
