Tasting Notes

The 2016 St. Eden has a deep garnet-purple color and gives up vivacious notes of crushed blackberries, warm plums and cassis plus hints of dried leaves, forest floor, tapenade and truffles with a touch of unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features taut, muscular black and blue fruits, framed by firm, ripe tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long with loads of savory sparks. Drink 2020 - 2054.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, September 2019

A barrel sample to be bottled in February 2019, the 2016 St. Eden is deep garnet-purple colored, with crème de cassis, blackberry preserves and mulberries plus incense and stewed tea wafts and a hint of bouquet garni. The palate is full-bodied, tightly wound and very firm with wonderfully ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and earthy.
