Tasting Notes

Revealing surprising density for a 2007, this elegant, dark plum/ruby-colored Pomerol exhibits sweet notes of iron, black currants, cherries, truffles, and herbs. Drink this deep, full-bodied, muscular offering over the next 12-15 years. I would not be surprised to see it put on weight and merit an outstanding score with a few more years in the bottle. Drink 2010-2025.

This cannot hide its greenness on the palate. Good definition, obviously some very nice blackberry and wild hedgerow notes, but certainly some under-ripeness here. Lovely silky tannins, good acidity, balanced but that greenness reappears towards the finish. Certan-de-May is better this year. Again, I was expecting more. Tasted April 2008

A wine with a pretty balance of chocolate, berry and mineral character, with fine tannins and a medium finish.

Mid crimson. Fresh, quite dramatic fruit. Served alongside the Certan de May it clearly enjoys more refreshing acidity but is very firm and very youthful. Still quite tight. Needs time to unwind but the finish is already rewarding. Pretty dry tannins – not luscious but should unfurl to a serious drink. Drink 2014-24

Saturated, deep ruby-red. Sexy floral lift to the aromas of red fruits, iron, mocha and spice. A suave midweight with captivating red fruit flavors complicated by a lightly peppery quality that carries through to the firmly tannic finish. Not especially fleshy but there's no shortage of material here.

Impressive colour. The notes of prune and dark fruits suggest a good level of maturity. Smooth and rich on the palate with balancing acidity and length, the tannins fine rather than forceful. Quite supple in style for Trotanoy. Drink 2014-2022. 4 stars.
