Tasting Notes

This has seen more than six years of ageing in the cellar and has attractive concentration and nicely played complexity. The nose is as fresh as you'd expect from Lanson with all yellow grapefruit and lemon but some pastry too. The palate, meanwhile, has a refreshing sweep of acid-driven, lemon fruit and is super pure, fresh and long. A great-value wine here. Drink now till 2015.

It’s thanks to wines like this, that the 2008 vintage has attracted such attention. True to the traditional Lanson style, developed over 250 years, Champagne Lanson Gold Label 2008 is light, elegant and vibrant, but also long, persistent and full. The blend is 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay all of which is sourced from Grand Cru vineyards. Crystallised white fruit, honey and nougat lead on the nose and palate, with brioche and cream to the fore on the finish. Pinpoint balance and extremely more-ish. Drinking Window 2016 - 2026

The 2008 Gold Label Vintage Extra Brut is a 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Fresh, lean and intense, this is a very elegant, pure and refined classic with a lovely mineral expression; it has refreshing lemon flavors in the very good finish. This is made in a lean and complex style. Excellent, although it needs a few years of ageing. Disgorged in July 2015.
