Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine de la Janasse 2017

Tasting Notes

The 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is 60% Grenache with the balance Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Syrah. It’s a rounded, pretty, elegant 2017 that’s very much in the upfront, forward style of the vintage. Black raspberries, garrigue, spring flowers, and some sappy herb notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, classic cuvée from this estate that will drink well for 10-15 years.

I tasted a bright, fresh, red-fruited Grenache from foudre that will blended with a blueberry-scented, chocolaty Syrah from barrel and a pretty barrel sample of supple Mourvèdre to create the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape. All showed ample weight, ripe tannins and decent length. 2020-2028
