Chevalier Montrachet la Cabotte, Bouchard Père et Fils 2017

Tasting Notes

A discreet application of wood can be found on the slightly riper and more obviously exotic nose that offers up essence of pear, spiced apple and acacia blossom aromas. The exceptionally rich, dense and powerful imposingly-scaled flavors brim with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm acid spine shaping the powerful, stony and impressively long finish. As is usually the case in warmer vintages, this is more Montrachet than Chevalier in style in 2017.

There are four barrels of the 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru, a superb wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of lemon oil, mandarin orange, pastry cream and blanched almonds. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a layered, concentrated mid-palate, tangy acids and lovely purity and definition, concluding with a long finish.
