Griotte Chambertin, Domaine Claude Dugat 2016

Tasting Notes

**Note: from a .16 ha parcel of 45+ year old vines**
Moderate reduction renders the nose difficult to evaluate. On the plus side there is a notably finer mouthfeel to the medium weight plus flavors that possess even more evident minerality on the much more complex, persistent and saline-inflected finish. This classy effort is positively Zen-like and in 2016, this is easily the best in the range, indeed it's not even close.

The 2016 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru vies with the 2010 (a wine it resembles) as the most inherently complex, complete and age-worthy wine in this vertical tasting. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of red berries, cassis, exotic spices, rose petals and blood orange, it's full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with terrific concentration, racy acids and beautifully refined, powdery tannins. Still an infant, it will require patience to realize all of its considerable potential.
