Tasting Notes

The 2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages is showing a little reduction, opening out to notions of warm peaches, passion fruit and gooseberries plus suggestions of honeysuckle, coriander seed and chalk dust. Medium-bodied, the palate is completely filled with tropical and citrus flavors plus a racy backbone, finishing long with a touch of chalkiness.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate (April 2019), April 2019

A fresh and fruity white with sliced-apple and lemon character. Layered and a hint of tannic texture. Lemon zest and lots of energy.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2019

59% Sauvignon Blanc, 21% Sémillon, 20% Muscadelle. 13.1% pH 3.08. Two-thirds fermented in tank, one-third in barrel. Will be bottled in 10 days.
Complex aroma that is herbal, spicy and with a lovely nose that is so typically Bordeaux Blanc. Cedary but with lemon and grapefruit freshness too. Slight grip, moderate concentration, more interesting aromatically than for its intensity. Not very long but super-fresh. (JH)

Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, April 2019

Intensely aromatic, with grassy lemon verbena, fresh grapefruit and lime zest. The palate is lithe and vibrant, with waves of refreshing acidity tightening the riper stone fruits and giving more pure citrus and light smokiness on the palate. Great purity here with just the right amount of spicy complexity. This is already very drinkable and incredibly moreish. It will be delicious on release.

Farr Vintners, Farr Tasting, April 2019

From vines just to the west of the estate and mostly Sauvignon Blanc, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc is a solid effort, offering classic notes of lemon curd, white flowers, and subtle minerality, medium body, good freshness and purity, and a clean, dry finish.
